When I am not proofreading...
My family and friends would probably say that my hobbies are pointing out the misuse of apostrophes at every available opportunity, and my unhealthy obsession with making lists ... but, hey, attention to detail is part of this job!
When I am not proofreading I am – as you would expect – a voracious reader. I particularly enjoy biographies and works relating to the two world wars. I am very interested in military history and have visited the battlefields and cemeteries at Verdun, Ypres, Normandy, the Somme, and Arnhem. I love airshows as well. I indulge in cryptic crosswords (I'm a slave to the Telegraph ones) and any other fiendishly difficult puzzles I can find. When I haven't got my nose in a book I can usually be found wielding knitting needles. I also enjoy (?) following the England cricket team, and have been very fortunate to see a test match in Cape Town and the World Cup in the Caribbean. And I was there at the most amazing and nerve-shredding cricket match ever: the 2019 World Cup Final at Lord's. However, my perfect pastime is to lace up my walking boots and set off either locally in beautiful Shropshire and over the border into Wales, or head for one of our national parks or coastal paths. |
